Al-Qalam Qur’an Project

What the Al-Qalam Qur’an Project offers:

Through this project, we at Deen Arts Foundation South Africa together with our honourable teacher, Haji Noor Deen, aim to foster a deep appreciation for the art of Quranic calligraphy and create a class of skilled calligraphers, thus perpetuating this venerable tradition.

FREE Tuition:
Renowned Arabic calligrapher Haji Noor Deen, along with his 6  accomplished Arabic calligraphers, will serve as instructors. Their expertise will be shared with students at no cost.

Teaching Format:
The curriculum will be delivered by Haji Noor Deen and his team through a series of bi-monthly sessions, each spanning 2 to 3 hours. These classes will be online via Zoom.

Guided Calligraphy Practice:
Students will diligently practise calligraphy in alignment with the standardised works established in the book, Guiding Criterion for Calligraphy in the Chinese Mus’haf. FREE for each qualifying participant.

Materials:
All required teaching materials will be provided at NO COST, ensuring equal access to essential resources and tools. To learn more about the tools we will use, check out our resources tab

Duration of Study:
Students will engage in this transformative journey for a period of 3 years.

Graduation Certification:
Upon completion of the programme, each graduate will have the privilege of copying an entire chapter of the Holy Qur’an, not once, but twice. Both of these Qur’an chapters, meticulously written by the student will be checked and double checked by Sheikh Londt and his team, and once they are declared ‘error-free’, one copy will be presented to the Deen Arts Foundation, while the other will be retained by the student as a cherished testament of their achievement, bearing the coveted “اجازةزجةا ا” inscription.
