Arabic Calligraphy in the Chinese Style (ACCS) is a combination of traditional Chinese and Arabic calligraphic tools and techniques that uniquely fuses the Chinese and Arabic visual arts.
Turkish Ottoman calligraphy refers to scripts produced and used in the Ottoman Empire period such as Riqa, Diwani, Naskh and Thuluth.
Maghrebi scripts developed from Kufic letters in the Maghreb (North Africa) and al-Andalus (Iberia). Maghrebi scripts are traditionally written with a pointed tip, producing a line of even thickness. Within the Maghrebi family, there are different styles including the cursive mujawher and the ceremonial mabsut.
Tezhip, is the art of illumination and is an art form associated with using gold in its motifs and patterns. Tezhip is used to adorn calligraphy, books, manuscripts, religious texts; as well as be a standalone art form. In the study of Tezip, one learns how to form particular motifs and patterns often associated with the vegetation and flowers of a particular country or region.
Since the 9th century, Muslim scientists and artists in our great civilizations have produced geometric patterns for architecture and book arts. Islamic geometric pattern is an art form that uses lines, circles, stars, and multi-sided polygons to carefully produce beautiful interlaced patterns that go from a point to infinity, reflecting “Tawhid”–the oneness and endlessness of God. It is an art form and science that continues to intrigue people from all around the world.
